I started gymnastics from a young age and instantly fell in love with the sport. As a gymnast, I represented Scotland on many occasions, winning both Scottish and British Medals travelling all over the country. Around 20 years ago, I began coaching for my local club and I loved seeing the younger gymnasts develop. I knew from that point it was a career in gymnastics I wished to pursue.
I began working alongside many different coaches at lots of different clubs, local councils, community groups etc building up as much knowledge and experience as I could. I soon realised there were many mistakes being made and I wanted to start a club where things were done properly and fairly. Storm was then created to offer safe, fun classes where gymnasts were no longer just a number but were taught properly by coaches who equally loved the sport and wanted to see the kids develop. I can't believe how far this once small club with 14 members has grown into the fabulous club it is today. I couldn't have done it without the fabulous team of coaches, volunteers, parents and gymnasts. This is just the start of the journey, I can't wait to see where the journey takes us..............x
I am a mum of 2 and have been working with children for the past 4 years as a yoga teacher, baby massage instructor and children's entertainer. Previous to this I was a Coach & Manager within the Financial Industry as well as a Life Coach. I joined the Storm team to further enhance my skills, I enjoy using my coaching skills mixed with my love of working with kids to bring out the best in each gymnast! My favourite moment is the look on a gymnasts face when they have overcome a doubt or fear to land a move.
I am a 21 year old student currently studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of West of Scotland. I trained and competed as a base in acro gymnastics for 2 years and have always been a lover of the sport. I am now on my fourth year coaching for Storm Gymnastics which has not only given me a wider knowledge of the sport but allowed me to form bonds with our gymnasts. Dancing is my other passion which I have earned 3 SDTA Associate qualifications in Streetdance, Cheerleading and Highland dancing. I have my own classes at a local dance school where I teach a variety of levels and ages. I am a friendly bubbly person who loves spending time with all our gymnasts and helping them learn new skills.
I trained as a competitive gymnast for 10 years, working up to training with the Scottish gymnastics A squad and representing Scotland at competitions. This has given me a wide knowledge of the skills required for our gymnasts. I have been coaching gymnastics for the past 4 years. I love coaching at Storm gymnastics and working with all the gymnasts!
I started gymnastics and cheerleading when I was around 6 and it was intended to be a recreational hobby. After a year or two I started competing in cheerleading competitions and gymnastics classes helped greatly with my tumbling and flexibility. I competed all the way up until I was 19 all over the UK and two trips to Europe representing the UK.
In high school I started volunteering to help out with the younger classes at Storm before my own and this is how I got into the coaching side of it. I love seeing our gymnasts gaining confidence and trust in themselves, building new friendships and simply having fun while learning new skills.
I was a gymnast and trained with storm for around 4 years. Whilst still training I began to volunteer at storm. This gave me the opportunity to train whilst also helping others to improve their skills. I have now been coaching at storm for 2 years. I love coaching for storm gymnastics and helping the gymnasts to improve their skills whilst also having fun.
I started coaching with storm through studying sports coaching at college. I choose to teach gymnastics as I have previous experience from when I was younger. I enjoy teaching all the kids at storm and love watching them progress their skills.
I started going to gymnastics classes when I was 5 years old, when I was around 7 I started competing in Scottish championships where I won a few medals. As I got older I started helping out more at classes which is when I discovered that I really enjoyed coaching gymnastics. I started volunteering at storm at 15 years old and got my first coaching qualification when I turned 16.
I have now been coaching at Storm Gymnastics for over 5 years and would not change it for the world! I love coaching at Storm because the kids always work hard to learn new skills and make each session fun and enjoyable to coach. My favourite thing about coaching is the incredibly rewarding feeling that you get seeing gymnast’s progress and achieve skills that they have worked hard towards achieving!
I was a competitive gymnast from the age of 8 and have been coaching gymnastics for the past 6 years. I enjoy all aspects of gymnastics which has led me to gain my coaching qualifications in level 1 and level 2. This has allowed me to gain an in-depth knowledge into gymnastics. I love coaching at storm gymnastics as it is fun for all the gymnasts and I also enjoy working with the gymnasts and other coaches.
I started Storm gymnastics in primary school but as I reached my teenage years I found I preferred coaching as opposed to actually participating. Since the age of 13 I have coached recreational gymnastics to children, spanning nursery age to high school, and enjoyed every moment of it! It is really important to me not only to make sure the kids are having the most enjoyable time possible while at gymnastics, but to support them as much as possible as they take on new challenges and develop new skills within our club. The most enjoyable part of the job however, is to simply watch them thrive, while growing in confidence and flourishing into the exceptional young gymnasts that they undeniably are.
I was a gymnast at storm gymnastics, I loved doing gymnastics in my spare time. I love working with children and am currently doing childcare at college. I have been coaching with storm for the past 5 years. Working with the gymnasts and seeing them improve makes all the coaching worthwhile!
